Am I to understand that GW2 is going to allow the spawning of all current minis, if they've been placed in a HoM? Has that been confirmed?

I thought filling monuments in HoM was supposed to unlock related, but different bonuses in GW2?

I have to say, that the more I learn about HoM, the more it sucks. I never wanted to see a direct transfer of anything to GW2 and it seems that implementing that (assuming that's what Anet are doing) is turning what should have been some simple loyalty scheme, into a major series of hoops for players to jump through.

The concept of players sharing minis to put in their HoMs wouldn't be a big deal if all we were getting was "something cool to show off" (as quoted from that video). Transfering all current minis (and titles etc) and therefore having to worry about rarity of current items in the *next* game is absolutely crazy.

For god's sake rethink this and keep it simple Anet - or GW2 is going to be brought down by an avalanche GW1 baggage!

At this point I could care even less about the hall of monuments. You can tell my thoughts are negative about customizing not just pets but everything

its easy. u wanna show off minis in GW? double click them ta da!

Wanna show off minis when GW2 is out and u cease to play GW? THEN customise them. Im not customising mine yet, i like all my toons to have access to them. but when gw2 comes out, if i decide to play it, well by then i will customise my minis.

Well I stuffed up
I carry some mini on diff chars and had already added the tapestry shreds
was going around reading all the diff things properly and when I was reading the mini pet one
I clicked next and was reading that mini's get customized
I thought OK fair enough I will add them all to my MAIN char not this one
and went to close the box "cancel"
then I got an err7 and disconnected when I managed to get back to the game
went to my Hom again and there was the Kunny on the shelf that I could see
when the screen loaded.
I NEVER clicked OK to add it now it's stuck on a charr that is not the main
char I was going to add mini's too.
Have sent a support ticket ect about the error.

Hope they can fix it OR do it so it's ACCOUNT based not char based and just have the name of
the charr that added it underneath or something to the Account HOM.
Either way I am not stepping one damn foot in HOM anymore until I get a reply back.

Just make them like hats.
Add an NPC that makes them over and over (Mahk in Kamadan, for example) but by showing them they get customized.

Then any character of the account can use them.

Another way could be adding unlimited sources of ministures, other than the birthdate and events ones.

  • Give Minipet to NPC
  • NPC immortalizes minipet into the HoM
  • Minipet shows a STAR (or something) next to it's name, showing it has been immortalized.
  • Minipet can be sold AND used by others, but cannot be immortalized again.

I believe this would accomplish the goal that ANet is currently trying to make, while making the community happy. But I may be wrong.
Best solution for this whole problem

I always wanted to say i:
ANET, it would be a great idea if we can duplicate the mini pets to use them with other char. same as the festival hats.

Also, a duplicated mini pet should be restricted to the account same as the bonus items, can't be traded, and if u sell the original then all duplicated pets should disapear from the inventory.

could they say funny stuff?

Minipets should be put in some kind of storage in HoM so that anyone can admire then behind a glass wall ^^'. There's no real need to make 'em customized, and at least not per character!!!

They could flag miniatures as "used for the HoM" instead of customising them.
Just put "This miniature has been immortalised in the Hall of Monuments and can't be used for that purpose again!" in bright red letters in the miniatures description.

no customisation -> item can be used by every character on your account and can even be traded to somebody who wants it exclusively for gw1.

I agree with seut. Minipet customization is rubbish.

I woul also prefer an account based Hall of Monuments. Or should I collect several minipet collections for my chars? Where to store them? Does not sound like fun or make sense...

I think it is good that they are customised.
Unless they change the whole HoM thing to being account based instead of character based it should be character based as well.

I understand the logic behind it. People loaning high-ends to their friends and "renting" high-end minis would probably be a booming market. But since I like to keep my high ends in storage and pull them out on which ever character I choose, I hate the idea of customizing them per char. If they did per account, I'd be okay with that.

I didn't got the chance to try out HoM yet, but as far as I see you put them somewhere and they get customized.

So, why don't we make a sort of storage, so when you put your pet in there, it shows up in HoM, when you get it out of there, it doesn't.

Now people can't get them cheaply by borrowing them once, and you can still use them. Also, if you make it just like storage, it acces-able by ever character on the account.

A nice touch would be materialstorage-like screen which has all minipets on there, with little pictures of them. As soon as you put your minipet in there, the picture gets ticked off and your minipet is in the HoM. All account-based.

Do this.

The per-character customization is retarded. It means you'll have to get multiple minipets if you want to use that pet on another character or account. ANet didn't think this through, because if this is what they wanted in the first place, they must've been borrowing some of what Sony's hooked on.

Either way, I never intend to customize any minipets until I absolutely need to.

Exactly. Who uses the mini's on just one character?

Maybe customized in GW2 but made so you can save them in the HoM for each character. This is BS that we can't do this.

I'm not into GW anymore, but I found this thread very interesting. What you just said is exactly how it would be. The "immortalized" minipets would be worth tons less than the not immortalized minipets - and here's another question of rarity.
People would prefer to NOT put their minipets in the Hall of Monuments and just keep them as they are and sell for ALOT more than what other would get for their (because they've customzied their).

IMO, A-Net hasn't done anything wrong. Customization is a good way to solve this problem.
Either have the pet outside and transfer it between your characters,
or show it off in the HoM, it's a decision you have to make.
You cannot blame A-Net for forcing you to make decisions in the game.

Why dont we as previously stated have a char like the festival hats npc for the minipets that way we have a place to store the minipets and you pay the small sum (like the hats npc) to recieve a duplicate customised to the char wishing one.

That way the minipets would be customised and logged on the the account the same way as the festival hats.

this would give players 2 options

1. a player can sell any pet as normal as long as he has not been to the mini pet npc

2. When a player takes the mini pet to the pet NPC trader that pet automatically becomes customised to the char using the npc and the mini pet becomes unsellable

This way anet are giving player the choice to either sell or store there pets for prosperity

just my 2 cents worth
